We’ve just produced the accompanying catalogue for an exhibition of the work of Ron Freeborn, a well known local artist – who is holding a retrospective of his work at the Freeborn Gallery in Didcot Girls School.
It’s essentially a collected sketchbook of some of his work; done often in the middle of a performance rehearsal, as something is happening, or as people enjoy being at their leisure at home or work.
The gallery is open from Thursday 10th November 2016 from 9.30am – 2.30 daily. Find more details here.
Ron Freeborn is an art teacher and painter. He has been involved with community arts, operas, the Blewbury Players and various other creative activities.
After studying Fine Art for four years in the fifties, he served for two years in the Forces (Cyprus). He was Head of Art in Didcot and for the last 40 years has planted firm roots at the edge of the Berkshire Downs.
His paintings are to be found in private collections across all five continents as well as some being held in the Government Art Collection.
Ron still teaches in Oxfordshire and beyond, though his annual painting courses held in Venice are always oversubscribed.
